Bad Penny by Sharon Sala is the third and final book in her Cat Dupree series.  It is a romantic suspense about two bounty hunters, Cat and Wilson, who in the midst of danger and multiple obstacles managed to fall in love.

Cat Dupree and Wilson McKay want nothing more than to start their new life together, but it seems their past is unwilling to let go.  Jimmy Franks, the man who nearly killed Wilson, is still on the run and more determined than ever to finish the job he started.  He’s willing to take down anyone unfortunate enough to get in his way and so far, he’s managed to stay two steps ahead of the law.  Will the police find him in time, or is Wilson doomed to get a repeat of Franks’ vengeance?

As for Cat, Solomon Tutuloa may be dead, but he still has the ability to ruin her life.  An investigator from Mexico is trying to solve Tutuola’s murder and with every clue he finds, he’s becoming more and more convinced that Cat is involved.  Will Cat and Wilson forever be haunted by their past, or will they finally overcome all their obstacles and have the life they’re so desperate for?

Though I had not read the previous two books in the series, enough was explained that I was easily able to keep up with the story.  Cat was an exceptionally strong woman who had faced the absolute worst life had to offer and not only overcame her past, she thrived.  I couldn’t help but have the greatest respect for her.

I adored Wilson.  He was patient and loving, supportive and dedicated.  Sala managed to bring their love alive through the pages and that made it easy to root for them.  They were two very different people who managed to bring balance to a relationship and that balance made for a great couple.

Bad Penny managed to be suspenseful and romantic at the same time with pacing that made it easy to become absorbed and not get bored.  While I did enjoy my time with Cat and Wilson, I’m not so certain that I feel the need to read the other books in the series.  However, Sharon Sala is a good enough writer that I would certainly be interested in becoming better acquainted with her books.
